High Times

HIGH TIMES magazine is the voice of the marijuana community, from the coffeeshops of Amsterdam to the medical cannabis scene.

High Times is a New York-based magazine devoted chiefly to cannabis culture. The publication strongly advocates the legalization of cannabis. For a brief period, it moved toward a left-leaning lifestyle magazine under publisher Richard Stratton, who hired John Mailer, Norman Mailer's youngest son, as executive editor. It has since returned to its earlier roots in the cannabis subculture.

1 12-02-2009 soulava Sadly HT has long lost its flavor!!!!!!!!!

In my opinion after reading HT on and off for 20+ years, I find this magazine to be the exact opposite of what it originally was: a counter culture rag that spoke to the underground from the underground about the underground. Today, I find HT to be a out of step whore rag that caters to those who don't know any better and are just so excited to be reading a pot mag. What is worse is that HT, over time, has developed an incestuous and sleazy relationship with its advertisers, who just happen to have become mega seed banks from Holland, Vancouver and god knows where!!! You can observe the embodiment of this observation in the ridiculous farse known as the HT Cannabis Cup, which somehow is always won by HT's top advertiser's. I wish I had something better to say about this mag that I used to long to read, though it's day seems to have come and gone, despite it's likely growing readership. HT once was a voice in the wilderness for counterculture and against the gimmee mine values which it seems to currently promote, in the name of the love of ganja. I guess it's time for a hungrier group of heads to take up the torch and burn the flame righteously!
